It may surprise you to know that many of Studio Ghibli's catalogue of films originate from literary sources. Howl's Moving Castle and Arietty are among the adaptations most people are aware of, yet we've discovered that 13 of the studio's 22 feature films find their origins in books. In 2015, Pan Macmillan acquired the independent publisher, Collector's Library, who were famed for producing pocket-sized editions of classic literature in hardback form. From 2016, Macmillan began republishing the Collector's Edition Library with an updated jacket design. Featuring blue cloth hardcover binding, gilded edges and handy ribbon bookmarks, the jackets have been restyled with gorgeous colour endpapers in an exclusive design. Over 150 titles have been released so far, with even more to be published in the coming months. Several include original illustrations, particularly children's titles (such as Alice in Wonderland, The Little Prince and others), and all include a foreword, afterword or both by a leading writer in their field.
