Rebecca 80 Year Anniversary Edition

To mark the 80 year anniversary of publication, Virago have released a beautiful special edition of Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. We are marking this milestone with a gorgeous jacketed hardback edition, featuring artwork designed by Hannah Wood and brought to life by Hand & Lock, a specialist embroidery firm. Featuring an introduction by Sarah Perry and an exquisite jacketed hardcover, this edition would make a beautiful gift or worthy asset to any home library. Photographed in Waterstones, Sheffield. The jacket cover was inspired by a scene in the novel where the new Mrs de Winter finds Rebecca’s azalea-scented, monogrammed handkerchief. This inspired Virago's art designer to produce a monogram, using the ‘R’ and the iron gates synonymous with Manderley, which were then stitched and padded on fabric to the dimensions of the book jacket. Benedict Cumberbatch reads The Order of Time

Carlo Rovelli's new book, The Order Of Time, is due to be released by Penguin next month. As with Rovelli's previously published works in translation, Seven Brief Lessons on Physics and Reality is Not What it Seems, the hardback edition is a thing of beauty, designed by my favourite book designer, Coralie Bickford-Smith. Yet... just when we thing things couldn't get any better, we discover that Benedict Cumberbatch will be narrating the audiobook edition. Today, Penguin have released a sample, featuring the book's opening lines: Carlo Rovelli's writings explain physics in a way which is both accessible and beautiful: 'We are time. We are this space, this clearing opened by the traces of memory inside the connections between our neurons. We are memory. We are nostalgia. We are longing for a future that will not come.' Vintage Books to Launch Minis Series

This June, the publisher Vintage will release a set of 20 "Vintage Minis: short, compelling titles on big subjects collected from the world's greatest writers. Each Vintage Mini will comprise of a complete reading experience and will be around 100 pages long. The titles are to be published in A-Format (the size of most mass-market paperbacks) and will feature a range of fiction, non-fiction and essays. The cover designs for the series are minimalist but vibrant; a different designer was chosen for each edition. Priced at just £3.50 each, they are sure to please readers who would like to broaden their reading habits with a short dose and perhaps inspire exploration into lengthier works from Vintage's back catalogue.
